Three Doppler LiDAR stations sweep Singapore's atmospheric column from ground-level boundary layer up to 12.5 km. Continuous vertical profiling at 5-minute cadence resolves aerosol plumes, dust layers, and pollution events as they develop — not hours later. Vertical resolution at 60 m intervals; SNR-filtered backscatter reveals thin aerosol strata invisible to conventional sensors.
NTU, RGS, and Woodlands stations form a triangular network across the island. Fire radiative power from NASA FIRMS overlays transboundary haze events on the same map. Co-located backscatter and Doppler wind measurements fuse into a real-time picture of pollutant transport — first-of-its-kind in Southeast Asia.
3DREAMS@SG is a LiDAR-based research initiative at Nanyang Technological University, advancing air quality observation in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Built on the success of 3DREAMS@HK — the first real-time LiDAR monitoring system in the region, launched in 2018 — and led by Principal Investigator Assoc Prof Steve Yim. Published in Science of the Total Environment, Geophysical Research Letters, and Remote Sensing.
